Favorite Five - Los Angeles Restaurants

Alcove - An amazing little house turned into a restaurant and wine and cheese shop. Their is limited space inside but a beautiful, peaceful garden with plenty of tables outside. The paninis and desserts are decadent. Try the Chocolate Orange See's candy cake! Or just enjoy an oversized mug of coffee or chai latte. Parking is in the back of the restaurant (but costs)or metered parking on the streets.

Clif Edge
3626 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
A great spot for dinner parties or a romantic dinner. Tables are scattered inside and outside up a beautiful landscaped slope.

The Fabiolus Cafe
6270 Sunset Blvd.Hollywood, CA 90028
One of my favorite spots for Gnocchi with eggplant, walnuts and ricotta cheese. Joe loves the four cheese Gnocchi.

Tiara Cafe- 9th street in downtown
A favorite in the garment district in downtown los angeles. Decorated after the owners daughters bedroom, it is whimsical with high ceilings and rainbow colors. The hummus sticks are to die for and the pizzas and rice paper wraps are great!

Pitfire Pizza- 2nd street in Downtown
My favorite pizza by far. The crust is perfect and the topping range from ricotta to pumpkin. My favorite pizza is pumpkin, bacon and arugula.

Favorite Movies

rachel gets married- explores the life of a family that lives with a recovering alcoholic sister who has no filter when it comes to speeches and is self consumed. the movie is filmed with a raw feeling as if you are a fly on the wall in a personal weekend of a family going through a wedding.

john adams hbo miniseries- a seven dvd series that dives into the history of the start of our country. From scenes of graphic tar and feathering to signing the declaration of Independence to the struggles a family had with a political figure as a father this series is beautifully done and both inspires and equips you with great background knowledge of our country as well as a character that is not talked a lot about.

defiance- a favorite of mine. this movie is a great addition to one like Schlinders list. it shows you how some of the jews fought to outlive the war without going to concentration camps. They lived in the forests and lived as a commune. They fought and traveled through crazy situations. Very inspiring and informative.

Favorite Party

I helped my mom with a shower this weekend for a dear friends soon to be daughter -n- law. My mom was inspired to do a elegant garden meets anthropology meets whimsical nature theme.
She transformed the umbrella poles to feel like trees with dogwood limbs among other greens tied to the poles . Handcrafted purses out of leaves and flowers for the center of the tables and you can't forget the tiny details like the glittery bugs that were attached to several boquets through out. We handcrafted banana leaves into cones tied with twig twine and hung on limbs above filled with hydrangea petals. We served onion goat cheese tarts, risota cakes, and roasted vegetable orzo salad. Lemon tarts and biscuits with warm banana and berry sauce were among the desserts. For favors we handcrafted recipe books with recipes from family and friends.
